Reed Danziger’s work consists of intricate patterns with various
motifs from nature, science, and architecture. She does oil painting as well as
printmaking and painting/drawing on paper, often mixing and layering different mediums
in one piece. In some of her works, she uses the whiteness of the paper as
negative space, which “becomes a crucial element in each composition.” Her art addresses the intersection of human design with nature and science.
Lately,
she has been shifting to works that are more abstract. She describes her more
recent work as “more celestial, and the forms less clearly describe organic
structures; rather they feel like the sum of entire universes. The particles
that define these galaxies merge and shift, expanding and contracting, and each
disruption reveals an ever increasing unpredictability.”

I chose this artist because her
work seems complex, detailed, and fascinating. I love the geometric
intricacies, pattern work, and level of detail that goes into her use of the
motifs. Her color choices compliment the details in her art. Even though her pieces seem chaotic, they are balanced.
